A lot of varieties of animal and plant species are present in and around Gudipudi .
Before 1970's , there used to be thousands of acres of grazing fields and lake occupying hundreds of acres were present , Then grazing fields were full of wild hares and foxes . As Nagarjuna Sagar canals water came to gudipudi in 1970's , all these area of grazing fields brought into cultivation ,so many species got extinted from gudipudi ,mainly due to sudden changes in farming activity . This change have its own impact on lakes also ,due to misconception that canal water will come every year , even lakes are also converted into paddy fields ,so many aquatic species , reptiles and cranes left gudipudi water bodies . The only hope for gudipudi village flora are the 3 banyan trees on the way to railway station , which are more than 300 years old ,giving shelter to hundreds of water birds like cranes etc . |
