Gudipudi in History :
As Gudipudi is situated very close to Amaravati, Which used to be a Capital city for many Empires , We can conclude that History of the Gudipudi Village is same as of History of Amaravati.
The inscriptions in Gudipudi :
1)
Gudipudi ; — 9 miles south-west of Krosuru. There are five inscriptions at the temple of Bhtmeirara Linga :— (1.) 8.S. 1082 (AD 1160). Grant by Prolasani, wife of Srimat Kotappa Nayaka.

At Gudipudi , in front of the Someswara Temple there are more than 5 inscriptions on different stone pillars dates range from 1160 - 1243 AD .

Saivite and vaishnavite temples constructed or renovated by the kings and their subordinates attracted large number of people in 11th centuary .Srisailam, Tripurantakam, Draksharama, Palakol, Bhima- varam (near Samalkot),Gudipudi and Amaravati were the main saivite kshetras. Srikurmam, Simhachalam, Sarpavaram, Srikaku- lam, Bapatla and Ahobilam were vaishnavite centres.

The Kotas :
The Kotas ruled over the soutern bank of the river Krishna as defecto independent power from 1100AD to 1270AD . They were the political successors of the Kondapadumatis and their kingdom was larger in extent , greater in resources and strength than the Kondapaduamati kingdom . The main branch of Kotas ruled with its capital at Dhanyaktaka and as many as four collateral branches exercised away contemporaneously and not as rivals with capitals at Yenamadala,Tripurantakam, Tadikonda and Draksharama.All the Kotas bore a common prasasti claiming to be the rulers of Shatsahasra, lords of Dhanyavati and devotees of Amaresvara at Amaravati .
BHIMA II AD 1156-1188AD.
Bhima was the first well known ruler of the dynasty of the Kotas .Two inscriptions at Gudipudi and Pedamakkena dated 1160 AD mention the achivements of the Kota chief , Kota Gandaparaja .
